UPSR leak: KL, Selangor and Johor focus of investigation
Malaysian Examination Board director Dr Naimah Ishak and deputy director of operations Dr Wan Ilias Wan Salleh were suspended effective immediately following the leaked UPSR papers.
The police are focusing on three states – Johor, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur in their investigation into the leaked Ujian Penilaian Sekolah rendah (UPSR) papers, Berita Harian reported today.
Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Low Hong Soon said the three states were identified based on the information gathered so far.
He said a task force is currently investigating the leaks in the three states and added that it would cover all aspects.
“The police also do not discount the possibility of focusing other states if we have additional information on the leaks,” he told the daily.
He said it was too soon to confirm if the leaks were done using WhatsApp.
“Maybe yes, maybe no. It is too soon to say as investigation is still ongoing,” he told the daily.
Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the leaked UPSR episode should serve as a lesson to all.
Following the leaks, the Malaysian Examination Board director Dr Na’imah Ishak and deputy director of operations Dr Wan Ilias Wan Salleh were suspended effective immediately.
Muhyiddin had said that Na’imah had to take responsibility for the two leaked papers because it affects the integrity of the ministry and public examinations.
Meanwhile, Kosmo reported that the government will have to fork out millions of ringgit for the new sets of Science and English papers.
A source told the daily that the cost included paper cost, logistics, invigilators’ allowances and others for the exams.
The daily also estimated that the government will be forced to pay more than RM3 million per day as allowance to 51,438 invigilators.
