The Second Education Minister, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the re-sitting the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination papers should be viewed positively.
Idris said the government is optimistic and the decision is viewed as a measure to evaluate the actual performance of Year Six pupils.
The Ministry of Education also said that it appreciates the direct involvement between parents and teachers in inspiring students to ace in their examinations.
"I view the majority of parents and teachers positively. If we continue with the old paper it does not describe the student real performance as a whole.
"And I would like to thank the parents and teachers who too view this development positively," said Idris, after reviewing the re-sit examinations for Science 018, 028 and 038 and English Language Paper 1 at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bangsar, here on Tuesday.
