US elections: Malaysians go for Clinton

A survey among Malaysians conducted by KAJIDATA Research found 86.8 per cent of the respondents viewing Democrats' Clinton as the better choice for America compared with the Republicans' Donald Trump.

The survey also found that 59 per cent of the respondents have been following the US presidential election with only a small group following closely while the rest, just in passing.

KAJIDATA's advisor, Prof Datuk Seri Dr Syed Arabi Idid in interpreting the results, said their choice showed that Malaysians were well aware of the impact the new US President would have on the region and Malaysia.

The outcome of the survey also showed that Malaysians in general had been keeping up with developments in the world, said the International Islamic University Malaysia academician.

Clinton and Trump are in a neck-to-neck race as Americans head to the polls next Tuesday (Nov 8). Both leaders have been embroiled in controversies during the race to the White House and none have a clear lead.

The telephone poll conducted from 24 Oct to 3 Nov, 2016 with 848 respondents was to see how far Malaysians are interested in foreign politics.
