He said the involvement of people in the digital economy would open up more opportunities.
People here have been urged to take full advantage of the internet access facilities provided by the government to develop business potential, thereby increasing revenue.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said they would be left behind if they did not engage in the digital economy as current business methods had significantly changed compared to before.

He said the involvement of people in the digital economy would open up more opportunities not only in business but also because future career opportunities were in the digital world.

"If we do not get involved (in the digital economy), we will be left behind and regret later... this 'borderless world' will not wait for us, it's a first come first serve basis, those who come first will reap the results fast," he said.

Salleh said this when officiating the Kota Belud Fit Challenge and Creative Betitik Festival organised by the 1Malaysia Community, Neighbourhood Watch Club and Abai district polling base in Kampung Pangkalan Abai, here today.

The event was organised to foster unity among the people, including the youths around the village through sports and the arts.

Salleh also encouraged the people in Kampung Pangkalan Abai to organise more programmes or activities that improve economic resources and businesses via digital methods.

This includes searching for the best way on how businesses online can be popularised in the area to boost the people's income, he said.
