Using foreign funds to create chaos in the country proves Anwar's immorality - Observers

Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) chief activist Datuk Nadzim Johan said Jusuf's statement should open the eyes of opposition supporters about Anwar's obsession to become prime minister and should not allow themselves to be manipulated any longer.

"Not only did Anwar influence them not to accept the opposition's loss in the 13the general election, but also exposed his supporters to danger through the illegal Blackout 505 rallies," he said when contacted by Bernama today.

Commenting on Jusuf Kalla's statement, which said that Anwar's actions benefited enemies of Islam and his friends also provided financial assistance in the Lahad Datu intrusion, Nadzim said Anwar can no longer hide and that the government needed to take stern action on him.

"Anwar doesn't care even if he has to sell his own country...I hope the government will take action on him as he has violated our laws and disrespected our constitution," he said. Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Political and International Studies lecturer Md Shukri Shuib said Anwar had clearly embarassed Malaysia to the point that international leaders like Jusuf Kalla also feel the need to slam his actions.

"Anwar should not drag the people to protest because the election results were not in favour of the opposition. His action clearly shows disrespect for the system of democracy the country practices," he said.

While urging Anwar's friends in the opposition coalition to examine Jusuf's statement on Anwar, Md Shukri asked why political chaos only started after Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) emerged, while PAS and DAP had long existed.

Touching on allegations that Anwar received funding from abroad for the Blackout 505 rallies and Lahad Datu incident, Md Shukri said if it was true, then Anwar was definitely willing to sacrifice his country for his dream.

Pakar Malayalee Malaysia president R. Nambiar said winning and losing was normal in a competition and should not be hard to accept. "Aiming to become prime minister shows positive thinking, but if one is rejected by the majority of the people then accept reality and back off. Give a chance to those chosen by the people to carry on developing the country," he said.

After the exposure by former Indonesian vice-president Jusuf Kalla, he said, Anwar should be ashamed of himself for twisting his words saying that he supposedly made a promise with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (to accept the results of the 13th General Election).

Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Faculty of Social Science lecturer Dr Azeem Fazwan Ahmad Farouk said Jusuf's statement was proof that Anwar's claims to champion the people were actually to help him achieve his dream to become prime minister.

"The motive behind the demonstrations, election and other accusations towards government institutions were for personal gain and in no way substantial for the people or democracy in the country," he told Bernama.
