UTM postpone all classes tomorrow

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has postponed all classes at UTM Johor Baharu tomorrow due to the haze as the Air Pollutant Index (API) in the state reached unhealthy levels.

As of 5pm today, Larkin Lama recorded API of 116 while Pasir Gudang recorded API of 115, both fall under the unhealthy category.

In an announcement posted in its official Facebook account, the university said it was applicable to all students and staff of UTM Johor Baharu.

"However, special and specific programmes such as memorandum of understanding (MoU) and equivalent should go on with caution. Staff involved in such special programmes must attend and can be replaced as unrecorded leave," said the university.

Currently, the UTM Johor Baharu Management is closely monitoring the haze situation affecting the campus community and all staff and students are advised to observe precautions issued by the Department of Environment with regard to the haze situation.

The university said classes would resume on Wednesday, Sept 30.
