V4Putrajaya launched to encourage volunteerism

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today launched the 'Volunteer For Putrajaya' or 'V4Putrajaya', an initiative to instill the spirit of volunteerism among the community here.
He said the programme, involving 1,700 participants, also aims to increase activities and participation of volunteers in maintaining cleanliness of the environment and instill the spirit of team work among the local community, who are from various background.
"Through V4Putrajaya, we are confident of instilling love for cleanliness, as well as fostering closer relations among the local residents, especially the young generation.
"This programme will bring the people to be with the government, instead of just blaming the government, the ministry and its agencies for whatever that happens in their compound, especially on the aspect of cleanliness," he told reporters when met after launching the programme here today.
Tengku Adnan, who is Putrajaya Member of Parliament, said V4Putrajaya provides an opportunity for participants to carry out works to beautify their residential areas.
For today, volunteers will carry out gotong-royong at Precinct 8 and Precinct 10. --Bernama
