A private van ferrying 10 students which crashed into a car and overturned at Bandar Utama on Tuesday morning was not licensed.
This was confirmed by Petaling Jaya district police chief officer ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed.
The incident occurred at about 6.30am when the van full of students aged between seven to 12 was on the way to Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Effingham, Bandar Utama.
The van, however, crashed into a car at the traffic lights and subsequently flipped over.
"The van hit the car from behind. However, we will investigate the matter further with the help of the Road Transport Department," said Arjunaidi.
He added that the driver of the car lodged a report at the Damansara police station.
Nine of the students in the van were injured where two of them had suffered serious injuries to the leg and head. One of them was sent for treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital while the rest were sent to University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
