The government has initiated various agricultural programmes and economic plans to improve the livelihood of the rural community.
In this regard, Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah urged the villagers to hold regular dialogues with their community chiefs and political party leaders in order to get updates on plans and assistance the government had in store for them.
"There are various agriculture schemes to help the rural community, such as rubber, black pepper, palm oil, bird's nest and pineapple," he said at an Aidilfitri celebration at Kampung Serembang, Saribas.
Uggah who is also state Agriculture Modernisation, Native Land and Regional Development Minister said the people must tell their leaders about the problems they faced, for a solution to be found.
On Kampung Serembang villagers' request for the fee for electricity connection to their homes to be reduced, he said he and Saribas Assemblyman Mohd Radzi Sitam who was also present at the event, would discuss with local power provider SESCO about the matter.
