Various quarters extend help to family of teen beaten to death by father
Muhamad Hafiz was reported to have quarreled with his father Abdul Ghani Sapuan, 52, after the former expressed his wish to work to help the family.
Various quarters came forward to provide assistance to the family of Muhamad Hafiz Abd Ghani, 17, whose father beat him to death after the teen expressed his wish to work to help the family.
Puteri Umno chief Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the movement would seek psychological treatment for the victim's mother, Siti Habibah Ismail, 38, and her nine other children who were in trauma.
"The children are not only stressed by what happened but are traumatised as their head of the family is irresponsible enough to cause the death of the eldest child.
"We will also give an initial financial aid of RM1,000 to the family," she told reporters after visiting the victim's family at the Melaka Hospital mortuary here on Monday.
In the 5pm incident last Saturday, Muhamad Hafiz was reported to have quarreled with his father Abdul Ghani Sapuan, 52, after the former expressed his wish to work to help the family, at their home in Kampung Jawa, Alor Gajah, before he was beaten unconscious.
Mas Ermieyati said the movement would also help register the nine children with the National Registration Department for documentation and valid identification certificate.
"These children have no self identification which will make schooling and other matters difficult for them in the future, we will ensure this is resolved so they can go to school," she said.
Melaka Barisan Nasional Service Centre (Pembela BN) director Amir Hamzah Aziz said the centre would help Siti Habibah get a government house for minimum rent and a job should they decided to stay in Melaka permanently.
"Pembela BN will also bear the burial cost (for Muhamad Hafiz) and help ensure the other children do not end up like this," he said.
State Women, Family Development and Social Affairs executive councillor Datuk Latipah Omar said the Melaka Social Welfare Department (JKM) would make sure the family was taken care of.
"Should they decide to live in Klang, Selangor, the Melaka JKM will work with Selangor JKM to get the family what it needs," she added.
