Higher Education Ministry will collaborate with Asia School of Business (ASB)and Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan (MIT Sloan) School of Management to implement innovation and entrepreneurship laboratories in public universities.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the lab would be implemented as soon as possible to improve the standards of higher education in the country.
"I have talked with (Founding President and ASB Dean) Prof Charles Fine on how we could collaborate.
"We have agreed that we love the innovation lab that they have and we look forward to working together with ASB to learn on how they do the lab and how could we implement that in our universities," he told a press conference after his visit to ASB at Sasana Kijang, Jalan Dato Onn, here today.
Idris who visited the ASB Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship was also interested in the use of technology such as the 3D printers and carving machines provided which could enhance the students' learning experience.
The centre plays an active role in helping to develop fledgling entrepreneurship communities in Malaysia and the greater Asean region and offer a nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem for ASB students.
ASB, which will run a traditional two-year Master of Business Administration Program, was opened in August last year with an inaugural class of 47 international students from various countries.
Since its inception in 2015, ASB is housed at Sasana Kijang, which is Bank Negara Malaysia's centre of excellence in knowledge and learning, while the construction of its own campus in Bukit Perdana, here would begin in April.
The campus represents an important step in positioning ASB as a premier institution in business management education in shaping the next generation of leaders in the region and emerging economies.
