Veteran actress Mariani dies at 82

Malaysia's legendary actress and singer, Mariam Ismail or also known as Mariani died at 7:32pm at her family’s home in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur today.
The shocking news was shared by her daughter Melissa Saila via her Facebook’s account.
The late 82-year-old songstress is the sister of legendary artist Puan Seri Saloma.
Mariani had several times before this, admitted to a medical center due to health problem.
Born on 20 April 1933 in Tanjung Pagar, Singapore, Mariani was among the artists who began her acting career from Jalan Ampas Studio.
Her acting career began after winning a beauty contest in the year of 1951 in Singapore, when she was 17-years-old.
The title has been a stepping stone for her to move to the film-making industry. She was even offered a role by the owner of Jalan Ampas Studio!
Some of her notable films include Istana Impian, Kembali Seorang, Labu Labi, Nasib Labu-Labi, Tiga Abdul, Masam-Masam Manis and Putus Sudah Kasih Sayang.
Throughout her life, Mariani has been married three times.
With her first husband Darus, Mariani was blessed with two children, Noraini and Normala.
With her second husband HM Rohaizad, the couple have six children, Sharifah Haslinda, Sharifah Rozita, Syed Herwaini, Syed Marhain, Syed Nazran and Syed Hasnidan.
Mariani in her third marriage with Alias, was blessed with five children, Iskandar Mierza, Shahruniza, Ariff Efandi, Kamarul Ariffin dan Melissa.
