SHAH ALAM: A veterinary officer pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to three counts of misusing her position to recommend her husband's company to carry out supply works at the Selangor Veterinary Department.
Norhamizah Abdul Hamid, 42, also pleaded not guilty before Judge Rasyihah Ghazali to three alternatives charges.
On the first charge, Norhamizah was accused of misusing her position as a veterinary officer to recommend Iqmiq Enterprise, which belongs to her husband, Iqramudy Sumin, 39, to carry out laboratory equipment supply works amounting to RM19,720.
She was also charged with two more counts of the same offence, first for the supply of laboratory equipment amounting to RM19,937 and the other for the supply of food, supplements and cat and dog shampoo totalling RM18,960.
The three charges were framed under Section 23 (1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, which provides for imprisonment not exceeding 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the value of the bribe or RM10,000, whichever is higher, if convicted.

She was also charged on three alternative charges under Section 163 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine or both, if convicted.
Norhamizah was accused of committing all the offences at the Selangor Veterinary Services Department here between Aug 30, 2019 and June 16 last year.
The court fixed bail at RM15,000 with one surety and ordered the accused to surrender her passport and to also present herself once a month at the MACC office here.
Remention of the case was set for Aug 26.
