Muhyiddin who is also UMNO deputy president confirmed that the message was false through his Facebook posting today.
“The Whatsapp message spread about a police report by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is false,” stated Muhyiddin.
The message stated that police reports would be lodged by the three leaders simultaneously at three police headquarters followed by a report at the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters.
The three leaders had on Monday, appeared at a press conference held over the detention of former UMNO Batu Kawan division deputy chief Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan and lawyer Matthias Chang.
The former premier said using SOSMA to detain the duo went against the spirit and the reason why the Act was passed at the Parliament.
Dr Mahathir stressed that the detention of the duo was an abuse of power by the authorities and called on the government to release them.
Also in attendance were former UMNO secretary-general Tan Sri Sanusi Junid dan former MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.
