Volvo gives the S60 Scandinavian Appeal

Volvo’s S60 makes a comeback with new suave and striking design. By Jerrica Leong

Take a look at the refreshed Volvo S60. Volvo had given the S60 a few refreshments to give the car a new “face”. Like its predecessor, the S60 comes with two equipment levels and two engine choices, the T4 and the T5, both turbo-petrol engines are paired to a six-speed Powershift transmission complete with Geartronic.

From the exterior to the interior Volvo has subjected the S60 to the Scandinavian treatment to create a simple yet striking road presence. Aggressive horizontal lines on the bonnet, a wider grille and daytime running lights complete the squat and striking presence while any unnecessary clutter is removed.

Head inside and you will further see Volvo’s attention to detail to create a Scandinavian appeal. The authentic materials used for the interior and controls that give drivers an ease of use for a better in-command driving experience. A new addition to the interior is the new Digital Instrument Cluster with eight-inch Adaptive Digital Display.

If the Adaptive digital Display sounds familiar that’s because you’ve already seen this feature on the V40. The display uses an active Thin Film Transistor (TFT) crystal display to bring to drivers information that they can personalise. They can also pick a theme from Elegance for a classic look, Eco that glows green or Performance that changes the speedometer to display a rev scale that glows red for a sporty feel.

You will also find Sensus, Volvo’s infotainment system, located high up in the centre console. Volvo’s strategy is to allow drivers to keep their eyes on the road easily. All the functions available on Sensus can be controlled via buttons located below the seven-inch colour screen or the buttons built into the steering wheel.

Even the chassis had received the Scandinavian treatment, the dynamic chassis that brings drivers improved steering, stiffer springs and bushes as we as more damping then the outgoing model.

Five exterior colours are available to choose from; Flamenco Red, Ice White, Ember Black, Electric Silver and Seashell. And you’re feeling stylish, dress your S60 up with the optional exterior styling kit including the R-Design Styling Package.

The Volvo S60 T4 retails at RM221,888 on-the-road without insurance while the more powerful S60 with the T5 engine hidden under the bonnet makes a permanent home in your garage at RM261,888 on-the-road without insurance. Of course with every Volvo car comes with the five year warranty and free service that includes parts per scheduled maintenance.
