The mother of Wan Aisyah Arbaiyah Md Zin and her ex-husband Wan Exzan had appeared at the Sungai Nibong police station at about 4.45pm to get their daughter back.
Both of them refused to speak to reporters but the man thanked everyone for helping to locate the child.
According to Penang Crime Investigation Department SAC Mazlan Kesah, the child was handed over to the Sungai Nibong police station by the suspect’s mother at 11am in safe condition.
Mazlan said police are looking for the suspect, Shahrizal Yusof to help with the investigation.
He added the Penang police were working together with the Selangor police in locating the suspect based on the information obtained.
“The suspect had returned home at 5.20am for sahur, when the mother had noticed the child with him. She became suspicious and brought the child to the station,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 363 of the Penal Code.
Earlier Astro Awani had reported that the three-year-old girl who was believed to be kidnapped, was brought to the Sungai Nibong police station by the suspect’s mother today morning.
This matter was confirmed by the Penang CID head SAC Mazlan Kesah.
Mazlan said Wan Aisyah who was brought in at 11.30am, is in a healthy condition.
“We have informed the Rawang police station about her safe arrival. The police team there will arrange for Wan Aisyah’s mother to bring her back home,” he told Astro Awani.
The news of a missing three-year-old girl has gone viral in the social media with the public urging immediate police action to find her.
Wan Aisyah Wan Exzan’s disappearance was made known to the public after her mother, known as Cikgu Arbaiyah in Facebook, posted images of the girl being carried away by a suspect.
The incident allegedly happened in Jaya Jusco in Rawang.
The images have since gone viral in Facebook and Twitter as many people helped repost and retweet it with hopes of helping the family to find the girl.
Her mother has also posted in Facebook that her family has shed a lot of tears since Wan Aisyah’s disappearance and they miss her dearly.
A hashtag, #findaisyah has also been created to help spread the news.
Gombak OCPD Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahim Abdullah confirmed that Wan Aisyah’s mother, a teacher in SMK Sg Choh lodged a police report a day after the girl went missing on Aug 2.
Abdul Rahim said according to the police report lodged, the suspect is a stranger that Wan Aisyah’s mother met in Facebook in May this year.
“Wan Aisyah’s mother, who is a divorcee, became close friends with the stranger whom she met in person at least four times before he allegedly ‘kidnapped’ Wan Aisyah.
“He promised to marry Wan Aisyah’s mother after Hari Raya and take her for a honeymoon. Wan Aisyah’s mother also helped the man for his business by giving him RM25,000.
“On Aug 2, the man sought the permission of Wan Aisyah’s mother to take Wan Aisyah to the Immigration Department to make passport for the girl. She has not been seen since then,” said Abdul Rahim.
Abdul Rahim said the police is currently investigating the whereabouts of the suspect.
Meanwhile, the public has expressed their sympathy to Wan Aisyah’s family.
