Wanita Barisan Nasional (BN) would ensure a bigger majority for the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Kuala Besut state seat by-election this July 24 than in the recent 13th General Election.
Its chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, who is also Wanita Umno head, in a statement said Wanita BN's spirit and commitment was at the highest level to ensure that.
She said she herself would would see that its election machinery's work would go on smoothly.
The Kuala Besut by-election will see a contest between BN candidate Tengku Zaihan Che Ku Abd Rahman, 37, an engineer, against businessman Endot@Azlan Jusoh, 48, from PAS.
This follows the death of the incumbent assemblyman, BN's Dr A. Rahman Mokhtar, on June 26 from lung cancer.
Meanwhile, Shahrizat and the Wanita Umno executive committee congratulated the 27 political secretaries to the cabinet ministers recently.
However, they felt that it was time for women to be appointed to the post.
"This is in line with the government's desire to empower women, particularly in the political field and at the decision-making level," Shahrizat said.
