Wanita UMNO calls for efforts to identify root cause of social problems

Wanita UMNO on Friday called on the relevant quarters to identify the root cause of social problems in the country, especially the one that can lead to amok incident.

Its chief, Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, said this was important to ensure that precautionary measures could be taken to ensure what happened to Mariah Baharin's family would not recur.

Mariah, 62, who was the Tangga Batu Wanita UMNO permanent chairman, along with her husband, Hassan Wahab, 70, and their son, Mohammad Taufeq, 22, were found dead in their house in Kampung Bertam Malim, Melaka, early Thursday.

Police had so far arrested a 26-year-old man, who was believed to have ran amok at 6.30 am and killed the three family members and seriously injured two others.
