KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita UMNO has urged the authorities to confiscate the 'My Story: Justice in the Wilderness' book for fear of causing racial tension in the country.
This was stated by Wanita UMNO Chief, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, in a media statement on Sunday.
She claimed that the book written by former Attorney General, Tan Sri Tommy Thomas, was alleged to contain seditious passages which was an offence under Sections 3 and 4 of the Sedition Act 1948.
"The actions of Tommy (Thomas) in publishing this book is embarrassing and even insulting the country's legal system. As a legal practitioner who once served as the Attorney General, he should be aware of the Secrecy Act and the oath made," she said.
She said Wanita UMNO divisions throughout the country have lodged police reports and hoped that immediate action can be taken.
"If this book is spread, it can definitely cause animosity between the multiracial community," she added.
Earlier, the Head of the Selangor State Criminal Investigation Department, Datuk Fadzil Ahmat, informed that the police had opened an investigation paper against the former Attorney-General regarding the defamatory allegations by the former senior officer of the Attorney-General's Chambers, Datuk Mohamad Hanafiah Zakaria.
