IPOH: A warden of a privately-run care home was charged in the Sessions Court here today with raping one of the female inmates.
Ahmad Irang @ Suhiran Aris, 43, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini.
He was charged with raping the 33-year-old woman at a house in Jalan Kinding Raya 10, Taman Kinding Raya, Kinta district, at 8.20 am on Oct 28 last year.
The charge was framed under Section 376 (2) of the Penal Code, which provides an imprisonment for up to 30 years and 10 strokes of the cane, if found guilty.
The court allowed the accused bail of RM5,000 with one surety and set Oct 4 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Liyana Zawani Mohd Radzi prosecuted, while the accused was represented by lawyer K.Shamini.
