KUALA LUMPUR:Several areas in Kuala Lumpur and Gombak which recovered from unscheduled water disruption are expected to face the same problem following failure of the pump house in Wangsa Maju and Pudu Hulu Baru yesterday.
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) assistant general manager of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Priscilla Alfred said the Wangsa Maju pump house broke down because of overloading.
The pump house in Pudu Hulu Baru suffered damage to the 11kV main switchboard durinh maintenance work on the substation by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) nearby.
"Syabas estimates more areas in Kuala Lumpur will be affected causing inconvenience to 107,760 consumer accounts involving half a million households," she said in a statement.
The areas in Kuala Lumpur are Flat DBKL Dato’ Keramat, Jalan Padang Tembak, Jalan Semarak, Jalan Gurney, Kementah, Pulapol, Wisma Tanah, JUPEM, UTM, FELDA, Telekom Training Centre, Jalan U Thant, Jalan Ampang Hilir, Taman Pandan Jaya, Taman Cempaka, Taman Bakti, Taman Nirwana, Kampung Pandan Dalam, Taman Cahaya.
Also affected are Pandan Cahaya, Taman Dagang, Taman Shamelin, Taman Tenaga, Taman Miharja, Taman Kobena, Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Desa Pandan, Flat Sri Melaka, Taman Melur, Taman Saga, Taman Mega Jaya, Taman Teratai, Taman Muda, Taman Seraya, Taman Bukit Permai and Kampung Cheras Baru.
Other areas include Kampung Baru Ampang, Kampung Melayu Ampang, Taman Hillview, Bukit Jobina, Taman Dato Ahmad Razali, Taman Bukit Indah, Taman TAR, Kampung Tasek Permai, Ukay Heights, Ampang Jaya, Dataran Ukay, Pinggiran Ukay, Sri Ukay, Beverly Heights, Ampang Indah, Ampang Saujana, Ampang Water Front, Bandar Baru Ampang, Bukit Ampang Permai, Bukit Indah, Desa Lembah Permai, Desa Setapak, Jalan Ampang, Kampung Bukit Sungai Puteh, Keramat AU 1 to AU 5, Kampung Ampang Campuran, Kampung Indah Mulia, Kampung Kemensah and Kampung Lembah Jaya, Kampung Pinggir Tiga Jaya, Kampung Tengah Lembah Jaya, Lembah Jaya Utara, Lembah Jaya Selatan, Sri Rampai, Taman Ampang, Taman Dagang Permai, Taman Pandan Ria, Taman Permai Jaya, Taman Permata, Taman Saujana, Ampang Tasek Tambahan, Taman Ampang Mewah, Taman Ampang Utama, Taman Bukit Ampang, Taman Cahaya Ampang, Taman Dagang Jaya, Taman Halaman, Taman Kesuma Ampang, Taman Kosas, Taman Mulia Jaya, Taman Rasmi Jaya, Taman Sri Ampang, Taman Watan and Wangsa Melawati.
Priscilla said repair works are expected to be completed by tomorrow morning.
"However, SYABAS will continue to monitor the progress and inform the public of the situation from time to time," she said, adding that SYABAS would also deploy 40 tanker lorries to supply clean water to the affected areas.
