RAWANG:Police found 40 barrels containing 4,000 litres of scheduled waste inside a premises suspected to be the source of pollution at the Indah Water Consortium (IWK) Water Treatment Plant (LRA) at Taman Velox, here.
Gombak District Police Chief, ACP Arifai Tarawe said the premises is located at Jalan Velox 2, about 300 meters from the plant and the scheduled waste found has not been disposed off.
According to him, initial investigation found the premises had only been operating for two weeks and is believed to be used for storing waste.
"We tracked the solvent odor found in IWK that led us to this premises.
“There is a premises that is rented as a store to keep the materials that are believed to be disposed off.
