Water rationing to stop simultaneously on May 1 - Selangor MB

The water rationing in the Klang Valley will stop simultaneously in all affected areas beginning Thursday, May 1, 2014.

This was confirmed by Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim via his Twitter account on Wednesday.

“Although the rationing has stopped, we will continue monitoring the dam levels in the state,” said Abdul Khalid.

He added that water pumping and the cloud seeding technology from Thailand had increased the water level in several water catchment areas.

Abdul Khalid at the same time also announced the matter during a press conference held in Shah Alam.

The National Water Services Commission (SPAN) had earlier announced that the water rationing in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya which started on February 27, 2014 will be stopped effective Thursday.

This was announced by its chairman Datuk Ismail kasim in a statement in Kangar on Wednesday.

Ismail said that the decision was confirmed by the Selangor state government through an official letter dated April 29, 2014.

In the letter, the state secretary, Datuk Mohammad Khusrin Munawi stated that the matter was decided upon during a meeting held with the Selangor State Water Monitoring Committee.

The meeting chaired by Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim was attended by senior secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, director of the Selangor Water Management Board (LUAS) and related agency representatives.
