Water supply has increased - Syabas
SYABAS: The water supply in Petaling had increased by 90 per cent, followed by Gombak (83.5 per cent), Kuala Lumpur (50 per cent) and Klang/Shah Alam (77.5 per cent)
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) announced that the supply of treated water in several areas in Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Klang/Shah Alam and Petaling has increased since Thursday.
Syabas Corporate Communications and Public Affairs general manager Priscilla Alfred said the water level in Sungai Selangor was on the rise and the Sungai Selangor Phase 3 water treatment plant had also resumed operation.
"Overall, the water supply in Petaling had increased by 90 per cent, followed by Gombak (83.5 per cent), Kuala Lumpur (50 per cent) and Klang/Shah Alam (77.5 per cent).
"However, the full restoration of the water supply in those areas will depend on the production of treated water at the water treatment plants to meet the demand of the consumers," she said in a statement here on Friday.
Priscilla said water disruptions occuring over the past few days were due to the production of treated water at Sungai Selangor water treatment plant could not meet the demand of consumers following the decline of raw water level in Sungai Selangor.
Meanwhile, she said the water supply to the affected areas in Hulu Langat had yet to be restored as the supply of treated water from Sungai Semenyih and Sungai Langat water treatment plants still could not meet the demand of water in those areas despite operating at maximum level.
