Two girls, G Gajashantini and R Thilasheni, almost got trapped when a portion of the Second Penang Bridge collapsed earlier today.
Though shaken by the ordeal, they were however, more concerned about a motorcyclist they claimed was still buried under the rubble.
Recounting moments before the incident to Astro AWANI, both of them said that they saw a motorcyclist who was only slightly ahead of them.
"I think if we were three seconds earlier, we would have surely been trapped underneath the rubble as well," said Gajashantini, who works as a nurse at Island Hospital together with Thilasheni.
It was about 7.20pm, while Thilasheni drove the Perodua Myvi from Queensbay to Sungai Nibong, when they heard a loud crash.
"Suddenly we heard a loud noise and we saw the bridge which was still under construction fell before our eyes,” said Gajashantini.
A metal debris flew into the car and Gajashantini, who was on the passenger side, said she was injured on her legs.
"The motorcyclist is surely still trapped under everything," said Gajashantini.
Both girls then drove home and later returned to work at the hospitals.
