Close to a month after the death of Institute of Strategic & International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mahani Zainai Abidin, a special tribute website has been created in her honour.
Created by her husband Hamidon Howell Miller and son James Imran Miller, the website, http://mahanizainalabidin.blogspot.com was open to the public starting today.
“We want to continue her memories and for people to be inspired by what she has done for the country and the person that she was.
“We’ve shared it with her contacts since Tuesday (July 16) but we’ve made it public today,” said James told Astro AWANI.
The duo has received 20 letters from those who have worked with Dato’ Mahani. Though there are no plans to publish the letters in full on the website, but more content will be added soon.
“Right now, we’ve put in selected quotes from the letters and photos. In the future, we plan to include her publications, papers and published reports.
Through some of the letters they’ve received, James admitted to learning something about his late mother.
“I’ve learned that she never said ‘No’ to people despite how busy she was. She will find some time to help those in need. Secondly, she was always professional at what she does. She enjoyed her work and she did it with enthusiasm,” he concluded.
Dr. Mahani passed away on June 21 to cancer at UKM Medical Centre.
Dr Mahani, who obtained a Ph. D from the University of London in 1992, was a board member of the Employees Provident Fund from 1998 to 2000, Deputy Chairman of the National Accreditation Board from 2003 to 2007 and a Council Member of the National Economic Advisory Council (NEAC) from 2009 to 2011.
Tributes, thoughts and photos for the website can be emailed to: [email protected]
