Where is justice in withdrawing allocations for opposition? - Syed Saddiq

KUALA LUMPUR:Why has the allocation for the opposition MPs' constituency withdrawn when the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) government did not do so.

The question was raised by Muar Member of Parliament, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, in a debate session in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday.

He further questioned that if the allocation could be given before, why not do the same thing now.

He added that such actions seem to let the people in the opposition areas continue to suffer after their rights were revoked.

“Previously, when we formed the government, for Kelantan and Terengganu to be administered by the PAS leadership, in Kelantan, a total of RM400 million was allocated directly to the state government.

"In Terengganu, RM1.3 billion is allocated directly to the state government even though some of it was eventually allocated to the PAS area for the ADUN’s allocation but we do not object because that is the right of those elected," he said.

Syed Saddiq said that before this, PH also had no problem in giving special allocations to MPs in opposition constituencies when they were administering the government.

"Before this, it was not wrong for the opposition to accept development allocations. Why today the allocation of RM3.8 million that should have been allocated to all opposition MPs was withdrawn?

“Where is justice? When before this we defended at all cost, but now just because the people voted for the opposition MPs, they did not get help especially during this difficult period of COVID-19,” he said.
