UMNO Cheras division chief Datuk Seri Syed Ali Alhabshee has questioned why the authorities have not hauled up businessman Low Teck Jho or also known as Jho Low for investigations relating to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (IMDB) financial affairs.
He said there is one name that keeps coming up everytime the issue of 1MDB’s misappropriation of funds is discussed.
“And that name is none other than Low Taek Jho, a self-styled flamboyant billionaire,” he wrote in his blog.
He said several reports have exposed how Jho Low had allegedly siphoned off huge amount of money into his company and questioned why the authorities are slow in investigating these claims.
“The task force, which is trailing at a snail's pace, has not called him in for questioning. And we are clueless as to whether they ever will,” he wrote.
“The rakyat are waiting for answers. And so am I. In sharp contrast Jho Low has ticked off UMNO Youth and is nonchalantly going about his usual business,” he said in the blog.
Syed Ali said Jho Low and those who are privy to the 1MDB financial affairs to face the anti-corruption commission, the police and the Attorney-General's Chambers.
“We cannot tolerate any more delays from the task force. It's imminent that Jho Low is investigated immediately as the money funneled away was meant for the development of the country and its people,” he said.
He said since early March, the people have been waiting for a status update on the alleged financial misappropriation of the 1MDB fund.
“And there is not even a whimper on the investigations by the task force, which was set up to investigate 1MDB,” he said.
