Police have crippled the William Gang - actively involved in the theft of luxury cars around the capital for the past 13 years - following the recent arrest of 10 of its members.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said all the suspects, aged 17 to 66, including a woman, were detained in a raid carried out from Sept 8 until yesterday around the Klang Valley, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang.

"This group targets luxury vehicles which are then delivered to a store in an industrial area in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan to be cannibalised," he said during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters yesterday.

He said in the raid on the store, the police found a car and vehicle components worth RM500,000, believed to be sold to a premises selling vehicle accessories in Sentul.

Following the arrests, he said the police were confident of solving 20 vehicle theft cases in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak and Melaka.
