William Yau laid to rest
The remains of the late William Yau Zhen Zhong, 6, was cremated at the Malacca Memorial Park in Bukit Jelutong at 2pm today.
The boy’s parents, Yau Kok Kang and Goh Ying Ying, and relatives were emotional throughout the ceremony.
Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam who attended the funeral handed a RM5,000 contribution from the state government to the family.
“We hope all parties would be patient and this matter should not be politicised. The family is still mourning and we should let the police wrap up their investigation,” Mohd Ali said.
Police had this morning confirmed that there were old scars found on the body of William but added they did not lead to the death of the six-year-old boy.
William’s body was claimed by his parents at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang this morning.
At a press conference this morning, police confirmed that there were old scars found on the body of William but added they did not lead to the boy's death.
William went missing on January 16 in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya. His parents had left him alone in a car with his siblings and returned to find him missing.
The elder brother had said that William left the car to search for their parents as their baby sister Cindy was cyring in the car.
His body was found at Sungai Sireh, Klang, on January 24.
William's disappearance and subsequent death garnered massive public sympathy, with many offering help and support to the family.
