A windfall for 40, 000 Petronas staff
Some 40,000 Petronas staff will be receiving a one time payment of RM1000 as agreed by the government and Petronas Board.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak during a meeting with Petronas staff earlier today.
He said payment of RM1, 000 was a way to show their appreciation the contribution made by the staff.
During his speech, Najib also announced that Petronas had contributed RM1 billion to the National Trust Fund last year.
In 2010, Petronas had contributed RM500 million while in 2011, the corporation contributed about RM1 billion.
Najib also announced Petronas contribution of RM1 million to the Malaysian Armed Forces Welfare Fund and the Police.
The Board of Petronas will also be handing out RM20,000 to the family of each national hero who died in Lahad Datu.
