Wisma Putra views seriously the deplorable condition of Malaysians quarantined in India and seeks to resolve it in soonest possible.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said he had also contacted the Indian government to find the real cause of the predicament of the Malaysians there.
“I have been informed that they have been quarantined by the Indian authorities for being in Markaz Nizamudin (in New Delhi), an area in India near a tabligh rally and at high risk of being infected by COVID-19," he said in a prepared statement on his Twitter account on Saturday.
He was commenting on a 4-minute 35-seconds video that has surfaced on social media showing the quarantined Malaysians at a school in India who were not provided basic necessities, including food.
"Wisma Putra has also been in touch with the Indian government and they have pledged their full attention and cooperation to resolve the issue,” Hishamuddin added.
