Woman dies after hit-and-run in Penang

A female pedestrian was killed after a motorcyclist crashed into her in a hit-and-run incident on Thursday.
The victim, Foo Swee Wah, 58, was pronounced dead at the Penang Hospital at 8.45pm after suffering a broken leg and serious head injuries.
The incident happened at the traffic light junction of Jalan Burmah in George Town around 1.25pm.
The shocking incident managed to be captured on video by a road user who was waiting on the traffic light.
The video showed the woman, who was alone, walking on the zebra crossing before a motorcyclist rammed into her at full speed.
The video has since went viral on social media.
According to Northeast District police chief, ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, the police have identified the motorcycle registration number and is tracing the perpetrator.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act for careless and inconsiderate driving, which carries a maximum 1 year's jail and RM10,000 fine.
