Khaw Suat Chee, 28, had stayed with her boyfriend in the hotel room before she was found dead.
A local woman was found dead while fully clothed and lying on a bed in a hotel room in Pekan Bharu here, Thursday.
Ipoh Police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said they received a call from the hotel at 9.55am and on arrival found the body of Khaw Suat Chee, 28. Khaw had stayed at the hotel with her boyfriend from July 28 to Aug 3 before the boyfriend disappeared.
"Forensic and pathological examination found injury on the head and arms, allegedly hit by a hard object. Khaw is believed to have died four days ago.
"There were no traces of burglary. The room was not ransacked and all the items were in good condition," he said in a media statement last night. The body was sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for autopsy.
Sum said the police were investigating the motive and tracing the boyfriend.
The case was investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Meanwhile, hotel employee Natem Tarsudi, 57, said she went to the room to collect the rent after the occupants failed to pay for three days.
After smelling something foul, she knocked on the door and then opened it using a duplicate key.
"Upon entering, I saw a woman wrapped in a blanket. I approached her and found that she was dead. I then informed my employer who called the police," she added.
