KUALA LUMPUR: The preliminary post-mortem report on a woman found in a freezer at a house in Taman OUG here, revealed that the victim died from chest injuries caused by blunt trauma.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said that the woman's body had been handed over to her husband at the Forensic Department of Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) earlier this morning.
However, he added that the full post-mortem report, which could help clarify the timeline of the victim's death and when she was placed in the freezer, has not yet been received.
"Thus far, nine statements have been recorded to assist in completing the investigation. We are awaiting the full post-mortem report," he said in a statement today.
Rusdi also confirmed that the remand on the suspect, who is the victim's son, has been extended for another seven days to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
"The suspect was discharged from PPUM at 6,15 pm yesterday and is now being held at the Brickfields District Police Headquarters (IPD) lock-up," he said.
The 53-year-old suspect was arrested on Nov 12 following the discovery of the woman's body at 8.45 am and has been remanded since Nov 13.
Rusdi had earlier said that the suspect, who was treated at PPUM after his arrest, has no prior criminal record.
The police are still awaiting the health report on the suspect from the hospital.
