Woman killed, colleague seriously injured in accident

A woman was killed while her male colleague was seriously injured when the car they were travelling in skidded into the opposite lane and rammed into the rear tyre of a lorry in Jalan Alor Setar-Sungai Petani, near here, at 4.10pm yesterday.
Yan district police chief, DSP Muhamad Halim Yatim said the woman was identified as Norsaidatul Amalina Mat Sapar, in her 30s, who was trapped in the front passenger seat and she died at the scene.
"Her colleague Yusmadi Yusup, 38, who was driving the car, was seriously injured and was rushed to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar," he said.
In an earlier news report, the victims were referred to as a married couple. The error is regretted.
