A woman was killed and her sister was badly injured after a four-wheel-drive vehicle they were travelling in rammed a cow, crashed onto the road divider and overturned at KM337 of the East Coast Expressway near Ladang Limau Madu here early Saturday.
Dungun police chief DSP Ahmad Zailani Yaacub said Kamariah Ismail, 54, of Kampung Sat Tengah in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, was killed in the accident which occurred at about 3.30am.
Her younger sister, Che Ana, 52, was badly injured and had been admitted to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu, he added.
Ahmad Zailani said the vehicle was driven by Kamariah's son-in-law Muhamad Akami Mahasan, 27.
Others in the vehicle were Muhamad Akami's wife, Salasiah Sukri, 28, who injured a hand, their daughter Nor Abby Rania, nine months, Kamariah's sister Saedah Ismail, 45, and cousin Rosmira Mohd, 38.
Ahmad Zailani said the family members were travelling from their village to visit a relative at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) Hospital in Kuantan, Pahang, when the accident happened.
The cow was killed in the accident.
