ACP Baharom Abu said the remand order was issued by the Kota Baharu Magistrate's Court.
A young mother was remanded for four days starting Thursday after two clinic employees found the body a newborn baby girl here, on Wednesday.
Kota Baharu police chief ACP Baharom Abu said the remand order was issued by the Kota Baharu Magistrate's Court.
Baharom said investigations revealed the suspect was believed to have given birth to the baby on Tuesday in a toilet near her workplace in Pengkalan Chepa.
The 26-year-old suspect, a handicraft shop worker, was believed to have left the infant in the clinic vicinity before the infant's body was discovered at 12.30noon, said Baharom when met at Kota Baharu police headquarters here on Thursday.
He said the suspect who suffered heavy bleeding was sent to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZII) and the case was being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code.
