Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim has advised the public, especially women, not to take part in the Bersih 4.0 rally which is expected to be held in a number of locations in the country this weekend.
She said parents should also not bring their children to the rally to avoid any untoward incident.
"I hope women are not involved in this illegal rally because if the situation gets out of control, it could have dire consequences.
"If anyone brings their children, it could also be dangerous if something untoward happens, and then they will also point fingers at others. This is irresponsible."
Rohani said this at a press conference held in conjunction with the launch of the national-level World Breastfeeding Week 2015 celebration by the prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, here today.
"The public should not participate in the rally, especially when it is held at a time when the nation is celebrating Merdeka Day," she added.
