Workshop owner charged with assaulting daughter's friend

An auto workshop owner claimed trial in the Ampang Magistrate's Court here Friday to a charge of voluntarily causing hurt to his daughter's friend.
Shaibuddin Mohd Azis, 48, allegedly hit and kicked Mohd Firdaus Mustaffa Albasre, 35, a mechanic, at a house at Flat Taman Kosas, Ampang here, at 7pm on June 1.
The charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a maximum one year imprisonment or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, on conviction.
Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali set RM2,000 as bail with one surety and Aug 24 for remention.
Deputy public prosecutor Norhashimah Hashim appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.
