KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) is following closely the developments regarding certain social media platforms that appear to be biased and have made it too easy an effort to censor content that supports the Palestinian struggle.
As such, Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah urged all telecommunications service providers and media platforms, both locally and internationally, to work together to improve connectivity and proactively ensure that the information disseminated is authentic, fair and equitable.
He also dedicated the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) observed today, to the Palestinian cause and prayed that the Israeli's atrocities against them to cease immediately.
"As Muslims and citizens of the world who uphold truth, justice, and peace, we must comprehensively and consistently continue to support the Palestinian struggle, especially when the Israeli regime escalates its violence against innocent civilians, as it does now," he said in a statement here today.
He said in addition to continuing the Palestinian struggle, everyone must also look at the role and aspirations of a new generation of Palestinian fighters and activists who have mobilised new approaches; for example, those who refer to Israel as an apartheid state.
The Israeli forces were reported to have violently invaded and attacked the Palestinians at the Al-Aqsa Mosque on May 7 and have been slamming the Gaza Strip with airstrikes since Monday.
