A year six pupil of Al-Ummah Primary School, Chemor, drowned while swimming in the pool at the Kandu Eco Resort in Gopeng yesterday.
A year six pupil of Al-Ummah Primary School, Chemor, drowned while swimming in the pool at the Kandu Eco Resort in Gopeng Saturday.
In the 4.30pm incident, Muhammad Syahimi Adli Mohd Peredi, 12, was found drowned in the pool by his teacher and a friend who were also in the pool.
Kampar district police chief, Supt Ng Kong Soon said on Friday, a group from the school comprising four male teachers, nine female teachers, 58 boys and 48 girls arrived at the resort to attend a motivation camp.
"Around 4.30pm Saturday, the group came down from Gua Kandu and was given permission by the camp officer to swim in the pool.
"Most pupils sat by the poolside dabbling their feet in the water and there were some who went for a swim. The victim was in the pool for about 20 minutes before he was found drowned," Ng said when contacted Sunday.
The body was sent to Hospital Kampar.
