Year Four pupil found drowned after bicycle falls into deep puddle of water

A Year Four pupil of SK Kampung Keling here was found drowned in a 0.5-metre deep puddle of water near his house in Kampung Nilam Baru here today.

Kota Bharu deputy police chief Supt Setapa Yusuf said the victim, identified as Muhammad Fitri Mohd Afendi, 10, was riding a bicycle from school towards home with his 12-year-old brother before they fell into the water.

"However, his brother survived in the incident," he said when contacted Wednesday, adding that police would continue investigating the case although it has been classified as sudden death.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Fitri's father Mohd Afendi Ab Hamid, 40, said he found out about the incident about 1.15pm after he was told by a villager.

As soon as he arrived at the scene, a resident told him that the body of his son was sent to the Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) Hospital in Kubang Kerian near here, he added. -- Bernama
