A three-minute video of a group of youths pulling a prank on a McDonald's drive through staff has gone viral on Facebook.
The video showed the youths screaming anti-Israel sentiments at the staff when they approached the payment counter. They also continued shouting these sentiments in front of the fast-food outlets maindoor.
The video was shared on ‘Friends of Barisan Nasional’ Facebook page and received more than 10,000 Likes and Shares.
This video was however not well received by netizens based on the comments posted on the Facebook page.
“They are just brainless… and they never think their actions could give consequences in the future,” wrote Saiee RonneeOng.
Mohd Noorhazuwan Abdul Latif wrote, “What if your siblings worked there and went through that situation (prank), would you get angry? That’s not the way to boycott McDonald’s.”
Terence Lim said that the act was quite shameful and there is no need to curse or use bad words if they don’t like it (the establishment).
“These kids are not really boycotting. (Do they) know the difference between a prank and boycotting,” asked Nurul Huda.
Earlier this week, McDonald’s Malaysia expressed their disappointment over the nationwide boycott of their restaurants which led to vandalisation and the safety of their employees being threatened.
The company maintained that none of its sales, profits or franchise fees from its restaurants are channeled to support any political causes or conflicts in any part of the world.
“Our core values dictate that we operate our business ethically and to the highest standards. There is absolutely no truth in any online allegations suggesting otherwise.
“Our commitment, first and foremost, is on ensuring the safety and welfare of McDonald’s Malaysia employees and customers as well as our franchisees’ business. So far, there has been little impact to our business," it said in its statement.
