Youth should utilise allocation to help revive economy - Mustapa

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said that the government had allocated RM3.5 billion to help address the country’s unemployment problems.

“For example, the government focuses a lot on young people such as providing training packages and for graduates to get involved in various fields of employment and skills.

“Therefore, we want this group to take advantage and make full use of the allocations and packages provided by the government to equip themselves with various knowledge and skills not just depending on one thing only,” he said.

He said this when met by Bernama after officiating the Himpunan Siswazah Kelantan (Himsak) Merdeka Tour and Visit programme at Darul Falah here, today, which was also attended by Himsak president Datuk Mohd Faizal Daud.

Mustapa said that the allocation provided by the government, among other things, was aimed at training young people in certain fields that are a necessity in the job market.

“Similarly, we expect employers who train the group involved, to guarantee employment opportunities for the group.

“The future of employment has changed ... for example online jobs and so on, so young people need to equip themselves with various skills for them to be ready and prepared,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Faizal said that young people are the future leaders who need various parties without political affiliation to help build this group’s strength to face challenges.

“In economic issues, as much as possible, we avoid political differences... we focus on restoring the country's economy,” he said.
