Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will start a three-day working visit to Italy to engage with the Italian government on sharing their experience to tackle security-related matters, today.
The Deputy Prime Minister, his wife Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis and his delegation will fly to Rome after the closing event of the three-day Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings (CHOGM) in Malta today.
Malaysian Ambassador to Italy Datuk Abdul Samad Othman said Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Home Minister, would hold meetings with the Italian Home Minister, the state police chief and Immigration chief as well as have dinner with Malaysians, who live in the country.
"The bilateral meetings are expected to discuss on the matter of sharing Italy's vast experience in tackling security issues such as terrorism threat, migration and curbing secret societies.
"Malaysia wants to learn how Italy has managed to control these issues," he told the Malaysian press here today.
He said the Deputy Prime Minister would have dinner with Malaysians and brief them about Malaysia's current situation.
There are more than 300 Malaysians working or doing business in the country.
