Zahid warns security companies from selling, leasing licences to third parties

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home minister said the ministry would not compromise on the matter as the government had given a lot of flexibility to the operators involved.

"All members of Security Services Association of Malaysia (PPKKM) have been granted a license and any company that sends all their security guards to undergo a course will have their licences renewed automatically without notice.

"But if they (PPKKM) frustrate my expectations by selling or leasing them, the licences will be withdrawn.

"Do not be angry with me but be angry with yourselves on why the licence is revoked," he said at the annual dinner organised by PPPKM and Asian Professional Security Association (APSA) here last night.

Ahmad Zahid explained that the ministry had previously set a ceiling of 800 security companies that could offer the services in the country.

However, in the event of a cancellation of license following a breach by any of these companies, the vacancy would be opened up to new applicants.

Meanwhile, he said the government always supported the development of the local security industry for its role in maintaining public safety.

Therefore, he said safety aspects would continue to be strengthened, including through crime prevention measures outlined in the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP).

"A safe environment guarantees the development of the nation's economy, thus since the beginning of this year, some crime prevention measures have been implemented and will be continued in 11MP.
