Zambry advises against politicing rabies

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said on Tuesday the mukim of Matang was declared rabies-infected on the advice of the Perak Veterinary Services Department and not at will.

As such, he advised that the matter not be politicised because the decision was made in the interests of the people and all measures taken had adhered to standard procedure.

"This matter is associated with a disease, so it must not be taken lightly.

"I advise all quarters to be patient until we get feedback from the experts," he said to reporters after attending an appreciation gathering here.

The mukim of Matang in the Larut Matang and Selama District was declared rabies-infected on July 17 after a dog died there of the disease on July 12, nine days after it had bitten two girls.
