Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir has challenged the opposition to lodge a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against Menteri Besar Incorporated (MB Inc).
Stressing that MB Inc did not belong to him, he said the opposition's allegations were intended to create a negative public perception towards the state government.
"They challenged the Perak Menteri Besar to reveal all the agreements in MB Inc by 5 pm, otherwise they will refer to the MACC; go ahead.
"MB Inc has existed since 1951, was re-established to boost the state's income.
"In 2012, the opposition contended that Perak has no new revenue, so the state government started thinking of ways to find new income," he said while winding up the Budget 2016 debate at the State Legislative Assembly here on Monday.
Meanwhile, Zambry noted the efficiency of MB Inc, which he said managed to settle its RM500,000 debt to the state government within six months after being activated.
"Although it moved slowly, MB Inc has managed to rake in RM1 million annually in the last three years," he said.
MB Inc, he said, was also activated to curb illegal sand mining, an issue that was repeatedly raised in meetings held by the Sand Committee of which the opposition was also a member.
Zambry said through MB Inc, the revenue derived from clay at the Trong area amounted to RM40,000 a month, compared to RM40,000 a year in the past.
On security and extremism, he said it was best that state representatives set aside their political differences and refrain from wrangling with each other as to create an environment of apprehension among the people.
