Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir urged the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate the denial made by Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming.
He said Nga, who is also Taiping Member of Parliment, should not defend himself by claiming that he did not upload the caricatures insulting Aidilfitri celebration on his Facebook account by blaming others.
On July 5, Nga allegedly uploaded two caricatures that depicted the giving of 'duit raya' as bribes and bran besides wishing 'Selamat Hari Raya' against the background of the United States flag and a lighthouse.
"He denied (uploading) the caricatures but how about the first one (Raya greetings). Is it fake or not," he told reporters after chairing the state government executive committee meeting here today.
Zambry was asked to comment on Nga's statement denying that he uploaded the caricatures insulting the Aidilfitri celebration on Facebook.
Earlier Gerakan Women chief Datuk Tan Lian Hoe hoped the authorities would take immediate action against Nga to avoid any racial tension in the country.
"This is to prevent provoking the people as had happened yesterday when a group (UMNO Youth) went to the DAP (headquarters in Kuala Lumpur) and so forth. They want justice," she told reporters after attending the senior citizens activity centre (PAWE) Aidilfitri celebration at the Perak urban transformation centre (UTC) here today.
Meanwhile in Sik, 21 non governmental organisations lodged a police report against Nga for insulting the Aidilfitri celebration on his Facebook posting.
The report was made at the Sik district police headquarters at 11.30 am today, led by Sik UMNO Youth chief Mahadzir Abd Hamid, who is also Jeneri state assemblyman.
Among the NGOs involved were the Sik district Malaysia Islamic Welfare and Preaching Organisation (PEKIDA), youth organisations, District Youth Council (MBD), 1Malaysia Penawar Welfare Association (PERMAS) and Sik district Single Mothers Association.
